Between this and Superman, bald people can not catch a break this year.
Zach Cregger's dark fairytale with a premise that's ripped from the headlines of your favorite analog YouTube series.
I bought in heavy into Cregger with Barbarian and I have no been let down. Not only does he supply perfectly chosen gore, provide interesting and new premises to the genre, but he is IMO one of the best current horror filmmakers when it comes to camera movement and placement.
Every choice he makes with the camera feels justified and motivated, so when there's a quiet movement and you get the camera moves even an inch, your heart starts to race. You know something is coming because he's forcing you to join his camera and look at something disturbing, grotesquely, and meaningful.
I totally understand how Barbarian's ending left people underwhelmed, and he answer his critics by creating one of the most satisfying endings I've seen in a horror movie.
It's so great being a horror fan.
