Sinners

i have seen the light. what a mesmerising experience this movie truly is. beautiful depiction of black culture, their roots and their ways. it could honestly go either way at the oscars but right now i am feeling sinners for best picture and one battle for best director. i am so excited to see this masterpiece be recognised.  some things i haven’t said before about it that i will now: - jack o connell is fucking incredible in this just as much as delroy lindo and miles caton and i’d have hoped he got as much awards buzz as them - i love that the choktaw are vampire hunters basically, it’s awesome.  - i underestimated michael b. jordan’s performance for a long time but it’s clear now the amazing work he did. smoke and stack truly feel like two different people through their mannerisms and that’s all his work. superb. - there are wayy too many great sequences in this film for me to pick just one man. - wunmi mosaku really is the standout of the second half, the oscar nom is deserved
