Taxi Driver
i don’t think anything can be said about taxi driver that hasn’t already been said but i’ll try my best.
it’s fascinating how this arthouse film was able to gain the popularity it did. it’s understandable though, there’s not a single bad beat. the impeccable cinematography, the haunting jazz score, the carefully constructed script, the maddeningly incredible direction from martin scorsese, the realist performance of robert de niro. there is not a single thing about taxi driver that i disliked. the pacing was great and the protagonist’s slow descent into becoming the scum he complains about in the beginning. i truly believe scorsese is a staple in cinema and will always be, at least to me, the greatest film director to ever exist.
PS: cybill shepherd is absolutely stunning in this.
