I promise you, that one day, everything's gonna be better for you. A formative story in me discovering my love for film as a teenager, resonated with me so much at the time that when I rewatched it by pure happenstance on cable last night, it brought me back to the feelings I had back then. A dizzying, confusing journey through adolescence and high concept science fiction, its world is rich with character and the implication of it's themes, or at least my interpretation of it's themes, still ring true to me, even if I am past that time in my life. It's a tragedy that a creative empathetic mind like Richard Kelly struggles to get financing for his work because there really is no one that writes or directs like him.
