can't stand the "cannibalism as a metaphor for love" takes on this movie, tbh. it just feels belittling to the entire movie and the excellent use of cannibalism as a plot device to explore far more complex themes like addiction, generational abuse or even queerness and desire! lee and maren's cannibalism doesn't represent their love but their isolation and their shared guilt for what they have to resort to in order to survive.
