Cure
Cure was such an interesting movie. The idea that all mankind is capable of this really gruesome evil, and that exists within all of us is such an interesting idea it got across. Thanks to some great analysis from my good friends, I realised this movie was more than just a psychological thriller. It was an analysis of the rigid social structures in Japan, the lack of identity in a system so uniform. The title cure, is so haunting when the movie finishes. The protagonist is finally cured of his anguish only when he accepts the evil within him, his cure comes from succumbing to the darkness he was trying to destroy. The protagonist continues the legacy of the antagonist, and the cycle of evil continues. The shots were amazing, it was only filmed on one million budget which is RIDICULOUS, it’s the scariest non horror movie ever. One sound, a shot, a face, all of these things sparked more fear than a jumpscare ever could. It was dark and eerie and something just felt off throughout the movie. Anyways really good movie and really dark but interesting themes!!!
