Alien

Alien is lightning caught in a bottle, a film so ahead of its time that still looks impressive compared to modern day blockbusters. The direction of this film is steady, and lets the inherent feeling of being on a huge ship out in space make you feel uneasy. You already feel claustrophobic before there even is a threat, then the addition of the Iconic Xenomorph just makes that much better. It can be slow, but its patience works in the movies overall favor. I respect the hell out of this movie and how much it’s done for cinema as a whole nearly 45 years later.
