Scream

Wow, this lives up to the hype and more. I enjoyed every second of this phenomenal thriller. It’s strikes the perfect balance between being creepy, gory, and funny. Wes Cravens was able to breathe new life into the genre by putting overused tropes on the stand and proving there’s so much more that slashers can do. The acting in this film in incredible throughout, ESPECIALLY for slasher standards. Every character is captivating and likable, even though half of them seem like they could be the killer for half the film. The inner conflict Sidney deals with during the film gives her character so much more depth that is paid off so well in the end. I don’t know what to expect when it comes to the rest of this series and how the sequels hold up, but wow was I surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I understand the hype.
