Squid Game

Okay sooo….. Squid Game was a great show. Always very captivating, and I think its first two seasons really felt distinct, entertaining, meaningful, and creative compared to most seasons of most other shows, really solidifying this series as one to remember. Really important work of commentary regarding class, morality, and dehumanization. THIS THIRD (and last) SEASON HOWEVER UM. Pretty underwhelming! I get that it’s only meant to act as a direct part-two to the second season’s events, but I feel like it just drops the ball almost completely when comparing it to the previous instalments. Storylines become incoherent, certain characters that we have almost no reason to care about are given QUITE A LOT of screen time for some reason, the english-speaking characters are BACK, the music is just very badly implemented, and Gi-hun ends up feeling like a side character in his own story for most of it. And the fact that this is the last of what we’re getting out of this show makes me even more disappointed. Overall though, not much else to say, still very glad this entire show exists despite its strange third season, and will probably do a rewatch of the whole thing at one point.  Really sick show!!
