upon rewatch i am unflinching in my 5 star review.  despite its flaws (as it’s def not a perfect movie) it just DELIVERS!!!   i actually don’t think there are any issues with the color grading here like yeah it could be more vibrant but also i didn’t walk away from this either time feeling like “wow i just watched a dull movie” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.   while it IS undeniably true that chu favors tight shots and can sometimes frustratingly keep the frame contained by e.g. tracking back instead of panning out or up, i really don’t mind it all tooo much???  like yes would have loved more shot variety and certain scenes could have benefited from longer takes but at least re: musical scenes it feels like music video vibes to me tbh.  also let’s be for real this is a 2h40m movie and honestly it didn’t feel like it either time and i think the fast paced editing really helps with that!!!  gotta fit a ton of shit in and frankly I LOVE THAT THEY KEPT A TON OF SHIT IN!!!!!!   ari for best supporting actress i said what i said.  cynthia i would hate u in real life but god dammit if u aren’t talented.  jonathan bailey is actually so hot and perfect that i lose all sexual desire it’s like uncanny valley vibes i don’t trust someone with that few flaws.   in conclusion wow what a great fucking film i need to watch this every day for the rest of my life.
