After Hours
I absolutely loved this. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen.
The beginning is a little slower, but you can feel it building toward something, and once the night really starts, it just never stops. Every time you think Paul is finally going to be okay or that a situation is resolved, something completely different happens and makes everything worse again. And then you meet someone who seems normal or chill, and somehow they’re not either.
That constant change in situations is probably what I loved most. The movie kept surprising me without ever feeling random, and it was funny so many times while still being genuinely intense. I actually cared about Paul and just wanted this guy to get home.
I also loved the whole feeling of spending one entire night with him. The city, the streets, the apartments, the nighttime atmosphere. It all makes you feel like you’re stuck there with him while everything keeps getting more insane.
The dialogue was excellent too, and the ending is basically perfect. After everything that happens, the way the movie brings the whole night full circle is so satisfying.
It’s only around 90 minutes, but when it ended I genuinely wanted more. I was completely inside the story the entire time.
ABSOLUTE CINEMA
