The Third Man
What an excellent film. I was completely invested from beginning to end and had such a great time watching this.
The story is really well written, and I loved how the mystery unfolds. It kept me interested the entire time, and there were some moments that genuinely caught me off guard.
The filmmaking is exceptional, especially for a movie from 1949. The editing is fantastic, the cinematography is beautiful, and there are so many great shots throughout the film. The streets of Vienna, the shadows, the tunnels, everything looks so stylish. I especially loved the chase through the sewers near the end. Such a great sequence.
The acting was excellent across the board.
And the soundtrack is so weird in the best way possible. It’s almost goofy and casual at times, which feels so strange for a movie this serious, but somehow it works perfectly. It gives the film so much personality.
I genuinely don’t have much to complain about. Just a really well-made, captivating film that I’m glad I finally watched.
