When They See Us

holy shit this docuseries just shook me to my core. it was beautifully shot and the dialogue hit so hard. i was on edge the entire time and i felt like my emotions were amplified as soon as it started. i cried at every single episode, each one harder than the last. you could feel the pain and confusion each of them went through. from being interrogated for such an excruciating amount of time to being forced to tell a fabricated story due to a corrupt and racist justice system and police force so eager to "get the bad guys" and "to serve justice" that's still in place today. these boys had their adolescence taken away from them without any physical evidence and having only their confession tapes being held against them. ava duvernay perfectly depicted the grief and horrible times these men and their families went through. the cast was phenomenal and jharrel jerome definitely deserved that emmy.
