Mysterious Skin
I always skip that one scene now, but I’m glad it’s in the movie. This isn’t fiction. It’s real. And I love how it’s showed in a raw uncensored way, because that’s how it is in real life and there isn’t any way to avoid it.
The thing about Indie films is how real it all is, not diluted or watered down, and this film is a phenomenal example of it.
It depicts how one memory, one shared moment, affects two people differently and it does it perfectly. I truly cannot explain the way you feel after watching it. The realization even though you already know it’s happening.
A beautiful book, movie and story.
Though it’s nowhere near underground, people don’t talk about this film as much because of the sensitive and graphic topics but I think that defeats its purpose entirely and i sincerely wished people talked about this film more.
Wonderful parallels, camera work and performances from all.
