Platoon

“Hell is the impossibility of reason, that’s what this place feels like” I haven’t seen a war film like this. It highlights the complex human nature whilst also facing the horrors of war. I think Tom Berenger’s performance is excellent but then again so is everyone’s. Charlie Sheen especially because I’ve only seen him do comedic roles but this shows how great of an actor he really is. There is some absolutely incredible cinematography in this film and I think it’s one of the best films for that. The jungle just looks great on film and that’s why people think Apocalypse Now looks good. There is no right or wrong, good or bad. It’s just hell. This film truly made me appreciate the sacrifices real people went through because I definitely couldn’t be in that situation without losing my sanity or my soul. My heart weeps for all those people who died in Vietnam. Just a shame it takes a silly movie for me to be exposed to it. I’m keeping this short as a reminder to watch it but bring a box of tissues.
