Chernobyl
I’m quite surprised it took me this long to get around to Chernobyl. The incident has always been such a point of interest for me. It’s my autistic fixation maybe who knows.
Either way, I’d started this 3 different times and got bored in the first 5 minutes (oh how stupid of me). This does a great job presenting the disaster, while also explaining the science in simpler terms. This was quite nice since, as someone who has taken radiation classes, still doesn’t really get it.
On top of that, it shows the soviet political intervention that created more issues than the initial explosion, as well as the ignorance of the people of the time assuming an RBMK reactor can’t explode and refusing to acknowledge that, just possibly, it could have exploded. After watching the first few episodes I stayed up all night rewatching all 50 youtube videos I’ve watched about the explosion, and all the recreation simulations.
Probably the best miniseries I’ve ever seen. Super cool.
