Carol

Carol is a masterclass in cinema. It’s heart-wrenching and painful and beautiful and grand and intimate and perfect. Carol is what I call a film of a lifetime.
While everything aesthetically is perfect - the color palette is insane, every shot is magnificent, set design is gorgeous, costume design is impeccable; the performances by these brilliant, otherworldly women is what makes this film what it is. I think we all know by now that Cate Blanchett is one of the greatest actresses ever - and she continues to prove this point right btw, however, it’s almost more insane how Rooney Mara’ s performance is just as great. (I adore Rooney with everything I am and she’s one of my favorite actresses ever, but I mean, it’s CATE BLANCHETT.)
Todd Haynes is magnificent. He did an impeccable job directing Cate and Rooney, and he told a very special story in a very special way. The screenplay by Phyllis Nagy is also PERFECTLY GUT-WRENCHING.
It’s crazy to me how love is everything that exists. And it exists always. Forever. And Carol is just an incredibly important reminder of that.
I feel so inspired, so moved.
“I like the hat!”
