Shutter Island
definitely not a movie I would normally reach for but wow was it interesting. There were so many levels to everything going on, one thing after another. Some of the storyline was hard to follow without the backstory, but I understand that it was held off until the end for shock factor.
This movie was kind of heavy to me. Not something that’s fun, but something to make your mind work and to really think about. I honestly loved that. It had me truly wondering who was right and who was wrong in the best way possible. Let’s be honest, if I was a nurse on Shutter Island and Leonardo DiCaprio started crying in front of me, I would believe him (acting was SO GOOD).
I loved Leo’s line at the end where he said “would you rather die a good man or live as a monster” bc at that point he didn’t know he was a monster so he was about to “die a good man”. Again, another thing to think about.
