Phantom Thread

“It's comforting to think the dead are watching over the living. I don't find that spooky at all.” Phenomenal film. Just overall the way it looked enticed me the whole time. I was a big fan of the cinematography with some of the most beautiful shots I’ve ever seen. And the acting, don’t even get me started… just some of the greatest I’ve ever seen. The small nuances within their expressions. They do a great job at displaying certain complex emotions while trying to conceal it. The preformance from Daniel-Day-Lewis is one of the greatest preformances of all time and this is his last film which is an amazing way to go out. Although I thought the ending was beautiful, I am pretty mixed on the overall message of these power dynamics. So is this toxic cycle gonna continue on forever, and they both accept it? Other than that, I loved it. This is actually my first Paul Thomas Anderson film and I hope to see more in the future. “You're not going to die. You might wish you're going to die, but you're not going to. You need to settle down a little.”
