Shame
‘Shame’ treats compulsion as isolation- in the film, desire is stripped of intimacy and rendered mechanical, transactional, and profoundly lonely- the film doesn’t ask for sympathy, it asks for understanding. Honestly, what’s haunting is how control becomes a defense against vulnerability- intimacy isn’t impossible, it’s terrifying and the film understands addiction not as excess, but as emotional avoidance, and there is no redemption arc, no comforting resolution- only the recognition that healing requires exposure, and that exposure is the thing most feared.
