Detachment

This film absolutely ripped my heart out Detachment serves as a true unfiltered indictment of our modern day institutions, weather it be family, education, or healthcare, how these systems are being broken, about how we are failing. At this films heart, it forces you to look at these institutions, it shows you the tragedy that goes on in so many places and the consequences that reap, the heart wrenching dialogue and actions taken in this film, is genuinely crushing to the soul, and makes you look at things with new found empathy. The character dynamics, and cinematography really sell the depressing reality of much of the world we encounter, in just 98 minutes Detachment will break you, and leave you as if you were hit by train, it leaves you forcing you to reflect on what happened and what it means, in the end, beyond it’s amazing thematic value, heart wrenching performances, and drastic actions, I think I’ve found a revived empathy for certain things in life, I strongly recommend this film, especially to any teacher or student.
