“Time waits for no man”
Damn it is impressive this works so well. The tonal whiplash this puts you through is crazy one moment is deep Existential suffering and the horrors of war the next moment it’s Cheesy 80s anime with big bouncy tits. The craziest part is, though it seems that tone was intentional This duality between serious, and not was completely on purpose Which is something I’ve almost never seen attempted and certainly never seen pulled off this well. The fact that this weird nuanced, jumble of tone and themes was Anno’s Directorial debut is truly impressive. It’s so interesting to see Anno’s Brewing interest in existential themes and humanity’s place in the Universe That we would see him expand on so greatly later on in his career. I guess for me, it shows if you’ve got an idea you truly believe in sticking to it. It’s probably a good idea.
But for the love of god Anno PUT THEM TITTYS AWAY
