Mother

Mother appears to be a straightforward thriller, but it is directed by Bong Joon Ho. It features his characteristic genre mash ups, and expert balance of tone. Mother explores the power and horror of love while confronting divisions of class and the relationship between a populace and a police force. Even though every Bong Joon Ho film I’ve seen deals with class and power dynamics to some extent, the nuance he displays always blows me away.
