The Host
Bong Joon Ho films practically always deal with capitalism to some extent. With that and the military presence in the country, the United States has had a pronounced and oftentimes harmful effect on South Korea.
The Host presents an obvious monster that preys on the most vulnerable. The government, the police, the military, the obvious suspects are all more concerned with covering up their culpability than they are in stopping the threat. It’s a film that is still relevant to today. It’s topical. It’s timeless. It’s Bong Joon Ho.
