Licorice Pizza
The more I think about this movie, the more one specific film comes to mind. No, it’s not Almost Famous. It’s Moonrise Kingdom: the story of a flawed relationship in premise, two people who live in a world without a definition of love trying to define that love in whatever messed up way will work. The labels of “child” and “adult” are constantly shifting and ultimately prove meaningless: once you feel defined in one place, the world will tell you you’re something completely different. I unabashedly love this movie, and its powers of seduction grow stronger and stronger on rewatch. It’s running headfirst into the dark oblivion, with no idea of where it’s going, but the destination doesn’t matter — it’s running there fast.
