Before Films, I had absolutely nothing. My life was going to school, hanging out with friends and that's it. My life had absolutely no worth, no purpose, no passion, nothing. I was another nobody filled with other walking mummies. It's only after I discovered truly great films it felt like I was reborn. Yet when I looked around at most of my peers there was nothing there. When I looked at their lives it was all the same, especially online. I saw the same pictures of people at the gym, at the same beaches, and on vacation they were smiling in all of them. But when I looked they were all the same to me, those people were mummies just like how I was. This mindset spiraled me into semi-depression I started struggling with questions like what is really my purpose on earth. Am I just to breed and die, and just be another nobody in a bloodline filled with nobodies. Even though he wasn't close to me I could see death quietly following a few miles behind me. I slowly started piecing together what I believe today is my answer to the question I asked not so long ago.
Your purpose is whatever you want it to be.
For Watanabe, it was to make children happy by building a park. It's only when he started running out of time did he become a real human being. While Instagram wasn't around then other useless stuff to distract him. All of it was a temporary pleasure because when you get home the party's over. He then met Toyo who he was so connected with he had another reason to live longer.
Even though I only know 2 people personally that follow me I still enjoy all of your company. Whether it's just commenting a joke or responding with criticism , I appreciate you. I may not know you but I do see you as people to connect with and just kinda vibe with I guess :).
So Watanabe decided to build a park and with his goal done he then died peacefully and happy knowing that 1000s of kids will hopefully have fond memories of it.Which I hope to do someday. With my entire goal in life is to make my own park, a movie. Even if I could just make 1 great movie just 1, and make one person change as I did with this film, 2001, End of Evangelion, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, etc. Then I think I can die peacefully knowing that I did something worth the time and effort with my life. To help someone else who was just as lost as me.
