It
IT (2017) is a good film with a great horror vibe, but lacks emotional connection and development.
The characters of Billy, Pennywise and Beverly are the obvious main characters of the plot, as they seem to be the only ones with deep writing; although the other kids do have alright writing, they mostly lack strong attention in writing, it felt very much like, “well what should we make wrong with this kid? I know! Make him scared of shooting sheep!” compared to Billy who they gave strong attention to with his stuttering, emphasizing he didn’t stutter at certain points as he got braver, and also the way he had to overcome his guilt of what happened to Georgie.
Despite the writing issues with the emotional connection, the film delivers very strong horror elements, which are executed correctly and are at times genuinely scary.
