Train Dreams

This is a powerful masterpiece. One which I just wish I’d been able to watch in the cinema. Every part of this film felt so real, from the long shots of nature to the ambient sound of wildlife, the characters you meet along the way and the conversations that Robert has with them. One of the best looking films I have seen in absolutely ages. Nothing much happens in the film, there is no plot, but it’s so gripping and the final sequence of the film absolutely crushed me, haunting me for the rest of the evening. Joel Edgerton as Robert is in my opinion the best performance I have seen so far this year from anyone. A man of few words, but you can see every emotion emanating from his face , absolutely sublime
