Loki
- season 2, episode 6 -> "for you. for all of us."a truly masterful piece of television. marvel has peaked. this has been their best project since endgame and i don't want to hear it. i talked about this in one of my other reviews, but this is what you get when the people working on the project actually care about it.
the script for each episode is sharp. the costume and set design were on point. the fact that not everything was filmed in front of a green screen just made it all so much better and more real. the direction and cinematography felt like they're from a real show, not a marvel shitfest. and this show was far from a shitfest. it's perfect. even though it is supposed to get us to the next movie or show with big plot devices and such, this show feels like its own thing. the impact the events will have on the overall story of the mcu is huge but its still feels self contained. it feels like a one-off show you can watch after endgame and get a full story without having to wait for the next mcu project to finish everything off. everything was just so neatly tied together in the end, it really made me happy to see something so perfectly complete with no loose ends that will drive you crazy.
every single character had a completed arc. mobius, sylvie, OB, B-15, Casey all fullfilled their specific roles in the story and got amazing arcs. in the end they are finally able to choose their stories. it's all up to them. they finally get free will and we don't have to see exactly what they do to feel satisfied. and as for our main man loki. loki has finished his 12 year character arc and i can confidently say that it is the best arc in the entire mcu. on par with tony. it all comes full circle amd it's just perfect. loki becomes the god of stories and the ultimate protector of everything. he makes the ultimate sacrifice and it's all because of love. his love for his brother, his mother and this group of people that finally accepted him as he is. he was burdened with glorious purpose and accepted that burden a changed man. and in spite of this love, he is left alone, the only thing he didn't want. his biggest fear. and he has to face that too: eternal solitude. though it would've been nice if he got the perfect happy ending but loki's story starting and ending in tragedy despite his change is almost poetic. devestatingly poetic.
i love you tom hiddleston, and i love you for loving loki as much as we do. loki's the first character in the mcu that i truly loved. he's the one that really got me into marvel. i have a personal connection with him and i am so happy to see him have his own completed story. a massive win and a horrifying loss for loki fans. and i thank tom for still being passionate about this character after all this time. he brings charisma and wittiness to loki but also this profound sadness and depth. he really gives it his all here. thank you tom for making loki everything we wanted him to be.
this is the perfect send off for a beloved character. i again applaud the cast and crew for their passion and amazing effort.
side note: if they decide to bring loki back, they better not mess up his character because i will burn marvel down
#the fact that lokius didn't go canon is sick but this was the closest we could get
