Ahsoka
This show was a tale of 3 parts. Episodes 1-3 were decent, 4-6 were really great and 7-8 were a bit lack luster. I can definitley appreciate the passion that was put into this project and Filoni definitley shows that he cares for these characters and this universe.
Baylan was definitley the stand out of the series. Ray Stevenson's performance was incredible and he brought a gravitas and mysteriousness to the role. The fight in episode 4 between Ahsoka and Baylan was probably the best fight of the show. Shin Hatti was also very interesting and I look forward to see where they go with her character.
Also, loved the use of Anakin. Might be Hayden's best performance as the character as he switched between 3 versions of the character. Force Ghost Anakin, Clone Wars Anakin and Dark Side Anakin. I really enjoyed the WBW part of this show.
Eman Esfandi perfectly captured the energy of Ezra's character and he might be the best transfer from the animated series to live action.
My main issue was that the main characters felt a bit flat. Hera's transfer to live action felt underwhelming and the main relationship of the series being Ahsoka and Sabine felt very wooden. And there wasn't really any chemistry between the two characters.
I also thought some of the writing in this season was underwhelming. I loved Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn but the writing made him not as intimidating or smart as I would of liked. Sabine getting stabbed in the first episode was also kinda dumb. And overall there was just a lack of tension in the last two episodes. It just felt like there were no stakes at all as all the main characters have so much plot armour. The show definitley set up many interesting things but many of these questions are keft unanswered in the show and the finale doesn't really feel like a climax at all. The show can also feel emotionless at times and Filoni feels the need to keep name dropping and providing member berries through out the series just for shock value and fan service. These Disney + shows continue to prove that live action Star Wars should be on the big screen. Theres just a lack of a cinematic feel in these shows and the visuals and planets of these shows are just lacking and feel very bland.
Still better than Kenobi, Mando S3 and Boba Fett tho.
