The Help

Thank you so much ( @httpiah ) for recommending this book to me. I remember so vividly how you pointed out this book when we were at NB Lounge. You told me how good both the book and the movie are, and you’re not wrong. I felt so incredibly moved, touched, and inspired reading this novel. The Help is a historical novel, and while it is a fiction-based account, it still taught me a lot of lessons about scores of colored people back in the 80s. I have developed my empathy towards them more than ever. It drives me to search for more of the history that I never learned in my early school days. After reading this book I realized that the oppression happened to African American was not a long time ago and it feels like yesterday-and that we have long way to go in championing their rights and giving back the respect and privilege that once denied from them.
