Superman
“I love, I get scared, I wake up every morning and despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other, and I try to make the best choices I can. I screw up all the time, but that is being human, and that’s my greatest strength.”Superman teaches us time and time again that finding the beauty and kindness in people is the best thing humans can do, but through James Gunn’s rendition he teaches us how it is also the most punk rock thing we can do!
Something about this movie felt so refreshing to see especially in this day and age. The political themes and plot points of this movie were so loud without being loud and it is exactly what was needed. Just so perfect.
I watched this with my 11 year old self in mind, knowing that I would’ve been jumping out of my seat with all the small mentions, such as: Cat Grant, Jimmy Olsen, Jitters, Big Belly Burgers, etc. Although that obsession with DC Comics has faded away as I’ve grown older, I had so much fun watching this movie, and my heart was so full of love and warmth.
My only critique is that some of the CGI felt off, especially for Superman’s flying scenes. I’m unsure if this was intentional but I can definitely push past it.
I cried 3 different times, not because it was sad but I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and love for what I was watching.
Stay punk rock. 🤙❤️💙
