28 Days Later
There was always road trip conversation between me and my brother about what is your plan in each zombie apocalypse from things like walking dead, Romero zombie trilogy and you name it. The only answer we always had with these ones is that we will probably die.
28 days later directed excellently by Danny Boyle is the first in this series and it remains fantastic. I love the raw look and direction of the movie.
Jim, Selena, Hannah and her dad are all interesting characters just surviving and have some beautiful quiet moments that give them more character. The wild horses scene being a stand out but I also quite like the shopping scene.
The villians except for the rage zombies are great too. They are terrifyingly and much like walking dead would do later show that man is the real monsters. Their ultimate goal In the end make them get what's coming to them in the end though and it's done very well.
The final confrontation is just great. I love that it feels like a stealth run in a far cry game but only with rage zombies. It is brutal in the best ways and watch Jim going all out on the soldiers was just fun to see especially with that soundtrack.
The one song will always be in my head as coming with the these movies and I'm happy they played it again in bone temple. The rest of the soundtrack is good too and adds to the atmosphere of the movie.
As for all the other aspects I think they are all done very well. The atmosphere is great, the infected were unique for the time in 2002 and the empty streets of London in the opening is a very cool way to start this series.
So in the end 28 days later remains a great time. It holds up very well and it's a series I quite enjoy.
