C'mon C'mon

The thing I have always loved about Mike Mill’s work is his humanity. He takes stories that could touch anyone’s heart & makes them so cinematic & powerful & C’mon C’mon is no different. The way Robbie Ryan shot the film beautifully, borderline documentary style - the shots through doorways often feel like you’re just watching lives go by. That paired with the huge open wide shots of Jesse & Johnny recording sound somehow give the same feeling. Visually it’s a story told with growing tenderness and care as the narrative progresses in the same way. Woody Norman & Joaquin Phoenix have the most beautiful & natural chemistry on screen, their performances are golden - I can’t wait to see this again.
