i'm going crazy. all the other guadagnino projects i've watched i haven't really liked all the way. but ive never said i straight up dislike guadagnino's work because i liked challengers. um. i liked it. it's still good. it's just the same thing i'm finding with all of guadagnino's work where it is hyper stylized but for seemingly little reason. the slo-mo is fucking insane in this. the editing and the zoom shots are insane. they could be great, they're interesting to look at, and i like that there is style here. i just don't know why it's like that. it looks like that to look like that. why the fuck am i the tennis ball. it's cool but why. why are there thirty fucking shots of mike faist's hand getting thrown the tennis ball. why is everything cut like that. good acting and interesting story, im just once again held back by style that feels like cool aesthetic as opposed to a deliberate piece of the story.

"of course it's wrong to kill an abortion doctor"

let's talk about the tar oscars snub. let's talk about it. 2023 should have been #tarsweep. lead actress. cinematography. original screenplay. editing. EDITING. this is just like marty supreme because it is once again the most genuinely obvious straight up best choice for editing in the category but somehow lost. i've been meaning to take notes while watching movies so i started doing that consistently this week and i've been getting a good three journal pages out of the ones i've done so far. tar however has accumulated an uncharacteristic seven pages of notes. this is because tar is so fucking good. call me tarpilled the way im doing my taranalysis. call me lydia tar the way i'm tarring all over the place. lydia tar would retweet kendall roy's tweet about overthrowing the culture of corruption that silences women and disagree with him. instead of the big pink light that lydia tar has, kendall roy would have a big green light and he would say "this is my big green light" to the people interviewing him for his architectural digest open door interview. kendall roy would call something punkte kontra-punkte and then tell lydia tar she needs to get all her ducks in a row. i would do a taranalysis but that would be a whole essay and no one has time for that.
