Challengers
i'm going crazy. all the other guadagnino projects i've watched i haven't really liked all the way. but ive never said i straight up dislike guadagnino's work because i liked challengers. um.
i liked it. it's still good. it's just the same thing i'm finding with all of guadagnino's work where it is hyper stylized but for seemingly little reason. the slo-mo is fucking insane in this. the editing and the zoom shots are insane. they could be great, they're interesting to look at, and i like that there is style here. i just don't know why it's like that. it looks like that to look like that. why the fuck am i the tennis ball. it's cool but why. why are there thirty fucking shots of mike faist's hand getting thrown the tennis ball. why is everything cut like that. good acting and interesting story, im just once again held back by style that feels like cool aesthetic as opposed to a deliberate piece of the story.
