BraveheartJesse9.8· July 1, 2025FollowI just sobbed so much, 3 hours of pure Cinema. Good on ya Mel Gibson, you can make a film and you can sure act. This film was genuinely beautiful in so many ways, the music was standout, genuinely fantastic score. It was so beautiful and fitted so well. It was so amazing. The environment was beautiful too, the majority of it was filmed in Ireland which makes sense as it’s beautiful. The scene of him on top of the mountain with the camera going around him was so pretty. The cinematography in this film was brilliant. This film was genuinely so beautiful. It was so well shot and it was so intriguing. The size of the cast was also incredible, it made everything feel so much more real with the size of the extras and the main characters were brilliant. The fight scenes were absolutely incredible, specifically the first one as it really set the tone and surprised me. I love melee combat and this was brilliant, it didn’t feel rehearsed, it felt more fluid and natural. The film was brilliantly made in every way, I can’t speak much on how accurate the history was as I’m not that knowledgeable on that aspect but it was definitely enjoyable and interesting. (After reading reviews apparently it’s incredibly inaccurate in the historical sense but I honestly don’t even care as I enjoyed it and it’s fake anyways, Mel Gibson wasn’t there back then..) Now, let’s talk about the actual story. I was worried about this film as I’ve never watched a three hour film and I was a tad worried it was gonna get boring and that I was gonna feel tired but I was so wrong. I watched it like it was an hour and a half, I was never bored. Mouth wide open, eyes glued to the screen. I had Reece’s cups minis with me for the journey and they are GONE. The story was great, genuinely fantastic. It will stick with me for ages as I feel a pit in my stomach now that it’s done. I sobbed so hard, like to the point where my nose was running. I love William Wallace. I cannot believe his wife was killed like that, I really thought she was in for the long haul but I was so wrong. She was so pretty and she haunted the narrative. It’s so sad because they had to get a secret marriage because he wanted her for himself. William is such a powerful character and I will mourn him for so long. He believed there was good in the others and he got betrayed. His final moments in that jail cell where he said he was afraid broke me and then he used his final words to shout freedom and I just started crying. He fought for what he wanted until the very end. Also seeing his wife and holding that memory of her at the end was so beautiful, the last thing he wanted to see was her and now they are together. I could cry just thinking about it. Also I loved the main four, that Irish dude Stephen, Hamish, his father and William Wallace. I teared up at Hamish’s father dying. I really loved Stephen, he was very funny and quite crazy, I’m glad he and Hamish survived, I think they were my favourites. It was so sad seeing them watch William be tortured as even they wanted him to plead mercy. There was so much betrayal in this film and it was so horrible seeing Williams face as it happened, he kept getting knocked down. I liked The Bruce guy, he knew what he wanted to fight for and I’m glad he led the Scot’s in the end. This film was genuinely beautiful and so heartbreaking. I’m glad the Scot’s got what they wanted and deserved. William Wallace was the best leader they could’ve had. This will definitely stay on my mind for a while, I feel sick just thinking about it. So incredibly well made, so beautiful. "Every man dies, not every man really lives.“CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
