Interstellar

10 year anniversary @ the OMNIMAX-STLSC Certainly not my favorite screen since it’s so specific with this enormous curved dome and the only things ever truly properly formatted are nature documentaries, however this is one of the few cases that the culmination is so overpowering regardless of the vessel that this is still a full body experience. I could watch this film through a high powered telescope as it played on a Nokia from 2004 and I’d still be floored, the absolute awe that Nolan goes to articulate to reaching far beyond what’s tangible, love, time and everything in between is the perfect encapsulation of this generational swing from a generational auteur.  I certainly can understand why many people find a disconnect in particulars of the storytelling or how emotion is used, like with many Nolan films. I’m not going to try and explain why I think certain stuff works since I just feel quite lucky that I’ve always recognized this for the spectacular achievement that it is, the same way I felt since day one in 2014.
