Sinners
An absolutely beautiful film that transports us perfectly into 1930’s America. The movie does everything so well in every aspect that you can’t help but be amazed by everything it does and how well it does them. Micahel B. Jordan playing as the twins and Jack O’Connel are the stand out performance that deserve every single praise it gets. Which is a feat in of itself as the movie is surrounded by terrific actors that sell you on who these characters are from the way they speak to their mannerisms.
The biggest stand out for this film is the soundtrack and how this film looks. The lens they used to show us the most authentic look of 1930’s Mississippi is truly outstanding, the film gives the location so much texture.
There are two specific scenes in this movie that I will forever remember and should be memorialized in cinema history. One aspect I deeply love is how they used old vampire myths and tropes from the past in how they operate from the garlic, to needing to invite them in. It feels like they highly respect and love the vampire mythos. Mix that with how it is interwoven into the culture of America of the time. You get the best version of vampires since Dracula.
