Superman

This film is my favourite superhero movie, for many reason but mainly because it is the ultimate blueprint for the genre. It’s epic, heartfelt, and filled with wonder. Christopher Reeve is perfect as he is seamlessly switching between the confident, powerful Superman and the gentle, awkward Clark Kent, throughout the entire film.Margot Kidder as Lois Lane is also perfect as she brings a fire, and vulnerability to the character, and their chemistry on screen is unmatched. Richard Donner’s direction elevates this film. He masterfully balances spectacle with heartfelt moments, creating this world which is full of hope. The film’s practical effects and John Williams’ legendary score still resonate to this day. This film set the standard for superhero films. Balancing spectacle with emotion, myth with humanity. It’s a timeless classic that continues to inspire and define the genre.
