Dune
This was my 6th time watching PEAK but it was a bit different this time because I FINALLY got to see this in theaters for the first time and it did NOT disappoint. Everything that makes this movie amazing is elevated by 100x in theaters. The score was blowing out my ear drums. I could feel the explosions and powerful bass through out my entire body. My eyes were having a nice 2 hour and 40 minute orgasm from the mesmerizing visuals. EVERYTHING was perfect.
Denis Muthafuckin Villeneuve. Denis Villeneuve has had one of the best film runs I’ve ever seen, releasing masterpiece after masterpiece after masterpiece and no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Dune part 1 is not only one of the best science fiction films ever made but also one of the best films ever made too and that’s a fact; It’s perfect and you won’t change my mind. The world building is some of the best we’ve ever seen without a doubt along with these characters that are so masterfully written and I also love that the film allows us to constantly have intimate moments with them so that we can care about them and get to know them better instead of rushing through the story for people with short attention spans. The performances are no different either-bringing so much depth and fierce emotion to their characters that they become very unique and almost feel real; just phenomenal casting.
So that was the meat, let’s get to the seasoning. The goat, Hans Zimmer created such an incredible score for this. His ability to create sounds and frequencies you never knew existed is truly astonishing. The way his music provokes so much immense emotions and in a way carries a whole entire scene on its back is just mesmerizing.
Now let’s dip into the delicious sauce which is the beautiful visuals. Greig Fraser presented us with some of the most beautiful cinematography you could ever lay your eyes on. The vfx team did fucking phenomenal. The explosions and vehicles were insanely well done. I mean you can’t get any better than this; every single shot is just beautiful.
So yeah, Dune is…
