I watched this last night and what was a pretty boring night turned into an absolutely fucking incredible one because this movie was nothing short of spectacular.
I’m a huge fan of combat sports and while some of the fights are a bit exaggerated it’s still so much fun and amazing to watch and this is easily the best combat sports movie I’ve seen and I’m the biggest rocky fan so that’s saying something and shit, maybe the best sports movie oat. Also the amount of times I was geekin out and my jaw was dropping and was jumping around in my bed because of the punches, submissions and devious body slams was to much to be doing at 1 in the morning 😂; shit was TOO FUCKING GOOD!
The acting was fucking outstanding! One of Tom Hardy’s best performances along with the revenant. He was really on villainous timing during this one too; his physique was insane and his presence alone was so tuff and I don’t think I would wanna be within 50 yards of those punches because JE SUS CHRIST THEY’RE DEADLY! But back to what i was saying, Tom puts on such a powerful performance in this and it should not go unnoticed. This is definitely Nick Nolte’s best role and should have won best supporting actor that year because he was just phenomenal and imo was the best character in this; Nick’s performance made me cry so hard multiple times. Joel Edgerton was equally as amazing as his co-stars in this and there’s not much more I can say that hadn’t already been said.
The story and characters are what make this movie what it is. Nick Nolte’s character-Paddy-is super devastating and him trying to reconnect with his sons and try to be better than his past self was so hard to watch and it brought me to tears multiple times like I said earlier. Watching Tommy’s life and Brendan’s was also super emotional because they’re brothers who are supposed to love each other but their past had altered their relationship and that was very sad to see. But what I’m trying to say is these characters are written so well and as heartbreaking as the story is, it is truly beautiful and an incredible sports drama that’ll take you on a roller coaster of emotions. I want to say so much more about this because I loved it so much and I genuinely think it’s one of the best movies oat but I don’t know what else to say besides it’s enthralling, entertaining, insane, devastating, beautiful, and amazing. I just can’t wait to revisit this in the future! Oops one last thing here’s this TUFFF edit on TikTok: Warrior Edit
