TÁR
This is a masterclass in character development and symbolism. Every part of the movie was enthralling to me no matter how “mundane” it may seem to some considering the movie’s pacing. I think the movie (and Cate Blanchett’s insane performance) walked a very fine line between portraying Tár as the monster she is, while making her as charismatic and “justified” as she portrays herself. The super masturbatory dialogue in the first act is a super funny and underrated part of this movie, and I think it establishes a lot about Tár and the orchestra world as a whole (which I’ll admit to knowing basically nothing about).
I have never been blindsided by a movie ending harder holy shit lmao
