Okay, I watched this yesterday before bed, and it was actually SO much more sweet, heartwarming, awkward, and funny than I thought it would be. They ACTUALLY CELEBRATE people who have sexual kinks instead of using it for stupid shock value. Secretary was made by freaks for freaks. Fifty Shades Of Grey was made by "normal people" for "normal people." It genuinely just appealed to an audience of, the only way I can put it… #BookTok people. Anyway, back to the movie whoever worked on the casting DID AN AMAZING JOB. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s awkwardness was so on point. James Spader is so good at playing a freak while also being genuinely loving and kind. and his spaced out look is so fucking good. This is probably the most accurate, faithful representation of people with a kink, and it’s a gosh darn entertaining movie too. I loved this.
