Oppenheimer
I’ve reserved some distaste for this movie in regards to the Oscars, not because I think it’s bad, but because I think it’s amazing. The acting performances are suspenseful and honest, the writing is understandable yet captivating. And the visuals and effects are Hmong the best of the year. So why did I hold that distaste? Because an amazing film discounts all other great films around that time. Barbenheimer was huge for this year’s film and this film is almost constantly in my top 2 per category. I saw someone say that Paul Giamatti deserves the Best Actor award because The Holdovers holds less support for the actors and his performance was kinda make or break, while Cillian Murphey is just another great aspect in another amazing film. This is not to say The Holdovers isn’t a good film, but it’s very reliant on its acting performance in contrast to Oppenheimer. Either way this film is amazing.
