Sinners
This movie was shot and was visualised in such an astonishing way.
The whole movie was an overall metaphor of black culture being exploited and modernised by the white colonisers. This started by the vampires, who the original three were kkk members. Hearing the beautiful songs that the black community were singing had drawn them in, because of their want to colonise their cultural ways.
Also how Remmick says how he was colonised, as an Irish from the British colonisation, showing us how people or groups who were once victims can also become the oppressors. Which also goes into when the group were playing Irish folklore music, which also goes more in depth of highlighting how these colonisers seen once oppressed ultimately became the oppressors.
From the start to the very end, the effects, and songs were beautifully executed.
The duality of Michael B Jordan’s acting was also such an amazing part. Being casted to play two characters is one thing, but making them so notably different is a whole new different talent that most people could not even imagine.
People who sit there and say he did not deserve that Oscar, in my opinion, are lying to themselves. He made such subtle and huge differences to portray two whole different personalities, that both added to the story. One twin being more serious and stubborn, and the other (who later succumbs to this evil from the vampires) is more easygoing. Mind you he also played a turned twin, who had the same personality and feeling but also had different traits due to the connection he had with the other vampires.
