Chernobyl
I generally am not a massive fan of short series like this as a lot of the time they find themselves in an awkward position of not good if it was a film and not good if it was a show. But this delivered massively.
What this series showed was the real truth and destruction that this catastrophe caused. It did this by going in depth into multiple story lines that all amplified the scale of the event. There were many aspects that made you want to cry, like a soon to be mother losing her husband in a long and excruciatingly painful way. Or a scientist that wanted to save lives but was blocked by a corrupt, wrongful government. All these things made it to be a deeply emotional show that allowed you to grasp and understand the tragedy that Chernobyl caused.
I don’t think there was a single performance in this that didn’t impress me in some way. The stand out performance however was from Jared Harris, who really shone in a way you wouldn’t expect.
Overall I must say this show really moved me and I am very happy that I understand more about what went on in the entire situation.
