Clayface
dude....
very good movie and i was thoroughly entertained but i js wished they leaned into the horror more as it was marketed as horror sm. the way it tackled the identity crisis that comes from being an actor and now a clayshapeshifter was woven together pretty well. a lot of purposefully cringe inducing horror shots w the body horror aspect but also feel like it held back from doing more with the body horror premise. should have been marketed more on the revenge plot vs the horror aspect bc although there were several scenes that leaned heavy into the horror aspect, it was more of a revenge drama dealing with body horror and themes of identity than a body horror that deals w revenge and identity imo. marketing made me expect it to be scarier and more disturbing than it was but as a movie it was still rlly good. says a lot that i was disappointed in one aspect but still left the theater satisfied and having enjoyed what i watched. definitely recommend for any revenge story fans and for any horror fans, and a MUST WATCH for any comicbook fan. ESP for batman fans or for fans of the clayface character (obviously) bc they make u empathize and even root for him but its clear in the end that he is a VILLAIN. a sympathetic one but still a villain, not an anti-hero, and that is smth that can still work as a movie (smth sony never realized ig). its a horror in an almost similar vein to coraline where its "horror bc of certain vibes and certain grotesque scenes but not a full on horror." mannn was i rooting matt on during his revenge scenes tho. very much a VILLAIN origin and thats what i came to see.
