Heat
This is one of the greatest action thrillers of all time. My Dad recommended this movie to me as one of his all-time favorites, and for some stubborn reason I put off watching it for years. I have no clue what I was thinking. From the opening sequence’s shot composition I was locked in. I could just feel I was in for a treat. The pacing is perfection. De Niro and Pacino are sensational from beginning to end. The supporting cast is absolutely nailed from role to role. The sound design is among the best ever. The city shootout scene is hailed but holy shit! Worthy as hell. There are so many dialogue cues and character flaws/strengths that are introduced early and then referenced and brought up time and time again too. Brilliant writing. I absolutely love when I can not predict where a movie is going to go next and I never could tell in this one. Just an absolute pleasure to watch. Dad, I’m sorry it took me so long.
