Arrival

Arrival for me is easily the greatest science fiction film I’ve ever seen. Denis Villeneuve’s direction is incredible and he’s easily my favorite director of all time. Stunning cinematography, an amazing score unique to Denis films, stunning shots and Amy Adams performance all come together to create such a thoughtful and emotional experience. Instead of your typical alien film, Denis takes a different approach with extraterrestrial life to explore our understanding of time, how language shapes the way we see reality, and the acceptance of fate. I also see a deeply moving story about love, grief, and free will. The film’s central question, whether we would still choose life’s greatest joys if we already knew the pain they would bring. Beautifully directed, amazing score, acting, story. Everytime I watch it I’m blown away.
